MORGANTON, N.C. – FMF KTM Factory Racing Team’s Kailub Russell earned his 43rd career-victory in a hard-fought battle on Sunday for Round 4 of the 2017 Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) in Morganton, North Carolina. KTM-Supported rider Steward Baylor Jr. joined Russell atop the overall podium once again with a solid 3rd place finish after coming through the pack from a bad start.

Consistency has earned Russell and Baylor the top two running positions in the Overall Championship Standings as they remain the only two riders to finish on the podium through the first four rounds of racing.

Off the start, FMF KTM Factory Racing teammates Kailub Russell and Russell Bobbitt put themselves into a favorable position early on as they filed into top three positions right away, each aboard a KTM 250 XC-F. Russell began making moves right away as he jumped into the lead before the end of lap one, while Bobbitt settled into the 3rd place position.

With the exception of a few short times early on, Russell was able to maintain the lead position for all seven laps despite heavy pressure by the 2nd place rider of Thad DuVall. The front-runners put on an exciting show for the North Carolina crowd as they raced wheel-to-wheel for a majority of the three-hour race. However, Russell it up a notch as he checked in for the white flag and from there he began his last-lap push to lose DuVall from his rear wheel.

Russell finished strong, capitalizing on a late-in-the-race crash by DuVall, to ultimately finish 18 seconds ahead of 2nd place to claim his third victory of the season. With that, the North Carolina resident notched career-victory No. 43 in front of a home-state crowd to put him within striking distance of Scott Summer’s all-time record of 46 overall wins.

Russell: “It was a tough day, it wasn’t what I was expecting out there as the track developed. I thought it was going to have a lot more moisture than it did - it was quite dry, square edged and pretty choppy. It was hard to get into the flow there at the beginning and I was kind of a little timid with the traction because some places you would have good traction and other places you’d just go away so it was kind of unfamiliar territory on the first lap. But then we got into a good groove and I felt comfortable and laid down a pace that I knew was going to be really fast. I felt really good and solid on the bike. I made a few mistakes, nothing major, but I’m happy to come away with the win.”

With one win behind him, SRT/KTM’s Steward Baylor Jr. continued his streak of consistency with a third consecutive 3rdplace finish. Baylor didn’t get the best start but the South Carolina native was able to quickly push his KTM 350 XC-F into a top five position. From there, Baylor fought hard to eventually make the pass for a podium position on the final lap.

Baylor: “It was a tough day. I was coming in here to salvage points because I tweaked my wrist last weekend and have been struggling. I was trying to avoid the bumps but this is a hard place to do it - there is no smooth line. I was able to make it out and still finish somewhat strong so I’m happy with the day. I’m proud to get 3rd on a day like today and keep it consistent.”

Bobbitt began strong in the 3rd place position but a crash early on caused him to drop back to 10th place. Bobbitt was a bit slow to recover from his crash and lost even more time after making an impromptu pit stop to regain his composure. The multi-time AMA National Enduro Champion finally got back into his stride for the second half of the race and began making passes.

Bobbitt made up substantial ground in the final hour as he climbed his way back up to 8th on the final lap, where he ultimately finished in the XC1 Pro class and 9th overall for the day.

Bobbitt: “Although the results don’t look great on paper, I’m pretty happy with my riding. The track was really rough and unpredictable so it took me a while to get comfortable after I crashed. Things started clicking in the last hour and I was able to get a few guys back before the end.”

TORRANCE, Calif. – Just in time for spring, Honda made its first off-road announcement of the 2018 model year, starring a mix of fun and popular trail bikes. The CRF/F line is renowned for being enjoyable and reliable, and the four smallest models—the CRF125F (available in standard and big-wheel versions), CRF110F, and CRF50F—serve as great vehicles for exploring the trails and introducing new riders to motorcycling.

Demonstrating its commitment to this segment, Honda offers the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's MSF DirtBike School, a respected learn-to-ride program, at its Honda Rider Education Centers, with campuses in Colton, California; Irving, Texas; Alpharetta, Georgia; and Troy, Ohio. Over 11,000 riders of all ages are taught at these sites every year.

"The Honda heritage of offering iconic, family-oriented, user-friendly trail bikes runs deep, from the Trail 50 to the XR75," said Lee Edmunds, American Honda's Manager of Motorcycle Marketing Communications. "These CRF/F models continue to be a big hit with consumers because they introduce people to the joy of motorcycling, setting the course for years of enjoyment that can be passed from one generation to another. We're proud to once again offer them for the 2018 model year."

CRF125F / CRF125FB

When it comes to midsize four-stroke play bikes, two different models rule the roost: the Honda CRF125F and its larger-wheeled variant, the CRF125FB. Both motorcycles strike an amazing balance between performance and comfort, with the shared goal of delivering a safe yet exhilarating ride for eager enthusiasts. That said don't think that these machines are reserved strictly for youth riders; countless smaller adults have fallen in love with this torque-filled 124.9cc engine, while the four-speed transmission offers an excellent platform from which to learn proper clutch usage. The primary difference between these models lies in the wheel size—the CRF125F's 17-inch front/14-inch rear setup is slightly smaller than the CRF125FB's 19/16 combo—although the latter model also sports slightly more suspension travel and taller gearing. No matter which CRF125F one chooses, these bikes are guaranteed to produce plenty of smiles.

CRF110F

Taking cues from the larger models in Honda's play bike line, the CRF110F delivers full-size servings of fun in a small, easy-to-handle package. Growing riders will love the ease of use provided by the CRF110F's four-speed, automatic transmission, making this the ultimate stepping stone for those who dream of grabbing gears but aren't quite ready for a manual clutch. An ideal off-road motorcycle for little rippers who choose to stay close to camp, this bike's engine character is incredibly friendly yet still has plenty of power for bolder excursions away from the truck (with an adult, of course). Perhaps the best trait of all is the CRF110F's reputation for being absolutely bulletproof and its ability to hold up to even the steepest of learning curves. A 1.1-gallon fuel tank, 26.3-inch seat height, and strong drum brakes front and rear are just some of the many great features that characterize this popular machine.

CRF50F

Back by popular demand for 2018, Honda's CRF50F enjoys a legendary heritage dating back to the days of the ultra-fun, twin-shocked Honda Z50. Still one of the most beloved small-bore four-strokes in existence, the CRF50F features modern styling, incredible durability, and an outstanding blend of usable power and effortless handling. It weighs in at just 111 pounds, and although it was designed with the youth rider in mind, many a grown-up has been caught red-handed taking a "quick spin" on this little Honda. Simplicity is the name of the game with this model, as the air-cooled thumper features an automatic clutch and 10-inch wheels front and rear. There's a reason that so many riders recall starting their careers aboard a Honda; the CRF50F is the ultimate first motorcycle for the littlest rider in the crew.

The Austrian manufacturer is well-known for its revolutionary advancements in technology and now the game-changer is finally here with 2-stroke fuel injection Enduro models being launched as part of the 2018 EXC range. With KTM’s unwavering commitment to being at the very forefront of offroad motorcycle sport, in which the orange brand has achieved many championship wins over the years, the latest, exciting development in technology has come to fruition.

It has been no secret that KTM’s Research and Development department in Mattighofen, Austria has been developing this technology, which offers considerable benefits over carbureted models including drastically reduced fuel consumption while also no-longer having the need to pre-mix fuel or alter the machines’ jetting. Not only that, the new 2-stroke TPI models offer a completely new experience in terms of power delivery and rideability, which once again demonstrates KTM’s commitment to its offroad roots, continuing on from the all-new generation of Enduro machines released last year. As market leaders in this segment, KTM believes the new 2-stroke fuel injection technology, known as TPI (Transfer Port Injection), is revolutionary. More information will be available during the international media launch, which begins on May 15, 2017.

Joachim Sauer, KTM Product Marketing Manager: "This is an incredibly exciting development for KTM. We have been developing 2-stroke fuel injection for some time and our goal was to create competitive motorcycles with all the benefits of fuel injection, while fitting into our READY TO RACE mantra. There has been extensive testing and considerations for our Research and Development team to take into account during this process, so we are very motivated by this next step and world-first in technology, as we take a major step forward in this segment. We are certainly looking forward to unveiling the new 2018 KTM 250 EXC TPI and KTM 300 EXC TPI machines in May. In Europe the bikes will arrive at the dealer floors in early summer, and in the U.S. and Canada, the new 2018 250 XC-W TPI will be available in very limited quantities in late fall.”

PREPARING FOR ADVENTURE

After one year of development, AJP is now ready to show the final version of the most expected PR7.
The new model we are launching on EICMA keeps unchanged all the core values of the first prototype presented one year ago at Intermot, but AJP decided to take some features to a new level, creating one of the most exciting models of the last years for all trail lovers and real off road bikes users.

The trail segment is still one of the most dynamic in the motorcycle industry, with all major manufacturers being present, some of them with a considerable number of alternatives, offering a wide range of products, and above all with a market performance that shadows some of the classic segments of the recent past.

However, despite all the investment done, resulting in a sustainable growth of the category, the roots of the trail philosophy have been forgotten. The path is dominated by increasing performance, complex technology, high weight and less off road potential.
This is how the trail segment has evolved, with bikes more and more oriented for use on the highway, extremely comfortable and effective on the road, but unable to perform on the dirt.
AJP is, from the very first day, a brand with off road on its veins and any new model must follow the roots, even if we are entering a very important segment and fighting with all the big names of the industry.

The PR7 it’s easy to define: a real off road bike, light, compact, agile, but comfortable, capable of a good mileage and designed to carry luggage.

From the first prototype we kept the new generation of the proved hybrid frame made of aluminum and steel, now even lighter, compact and rigid, using two lightweight twin spars bolted to the compact steering head that is used also as an oil reservoir.

The AJP PR7 is equipped with top suspensions, showing a massive inverted front fork with full adjustability, 48mm inner tubes and a generous stroke of 300mm. That’s why we say this is a real off road bike bike with real dirt heritage.

On the rear, the cast aluminum swinging arm is another trademark of the brand and the progressive linkage takes full advantage of the piggyback fully adjustable rear shock, capable of 280mm of travel.
Brakes are well dimensioned with a 300mm front disc operated by a two piston caliper, and a 240mm rear rotor, allowing for a good power on the tarmac, ease of use and a great feel on the dirt.

Xtrainer 300: The Xtrainer returns with one large update, Beta will build more! This popular model's sales far exceeded production for 2015 and the Beta factory has stepped up production for 2016 to help fill the demand.

This entry-level 300 cc off road machine brings fun back into the riding dictionary with it's "no-hit" yet powerful engine, oil injection, electric start, and a low seat height. Xtrainers will be available at Beta dealerships beginning in August at a suggested price of $7299.00.

RR 2 Stroke:
The big news for the 2016 RR Enduro 2 stroke models is the introduction of Beta's electronic oil injection system on both the 250 and 300 RR models. This system was introduced in 2015 on the Xtrainer model and has proven to be a huge success among Beta owners. This new feature ensures a perfect fuel-oil mix under any conditions and engine speed while saving riders from having to pre-mix.

2016 300 RR

This new system also reduces 50% of the smoke from the exhaust compared to a traditional pre-mixed two stroke as the system is managed by an ECU with integrated mix and engine control which is able to measure the oil based on the engine's revs and engine load measured by the TPS (Throttle Position System).

Oil Injection for the 2016 RR models

Other 2 stroke RR updates include:
The main frame has a stronger top shock mount to improve strength of the frame while also improving the feel of the chassis under the most demanding situations.

The air filter box has been improved in terms of its water drainage. Also new are the air box cover fasteners that provide a more secure and dependable system.

The front fork has been improved by increasing the size of the cartridge bleed hole to allow better oil flow during bottoming. Other changes include a longer spring guide to provide smoother action and lastly a more durable top-out spring has been installed.

The odometer instrumentation is updated and integrates the lights indicating low oil level and separate oil injection system diagnostics.

Grips with the Beta logo embossed in.

The graphics retain the classic and distinctive Beta colors characterizing the Italian heritage. Even more stunning are the front fork tubes now with gold anodizing to match the rear shock reservoir.

2 Stroke RR models will be available at dealerships in August

Suggested RR 2 stroke prices are:

250 RR     $8299.00
300 RR     $8299.00

RR 4 Stroke:
The main innovation of the 2016 4 stroke RR Enduro range is the introduction of the electronic fuel injection system on all 4 stroke models. Fuel injection was already introduced on the 2015 350 RR model and has proved to be much more efficient than a carburetor, thanks to its great reliability and simple engine management, its extraordinary fuel delivery has received positive feedback from casual riders and racers alike.

2016 430 RR

Beta's engineers have worked directly with Synerject to provide an EFI system that has proven to be tried and true. With its 42mm-diameter throttle body, the system ensures precise control of the fuel delivery under any condition, the air-fuel mixture is optimized at any altitude thanks to temperature and pressure gauges. Riders of all levels will enjoy spontaneous and linear engine response, thanks to the adoption of a stepper motor mounted on the throttle body, a precise minimum engine speed is guaranteed and engine braking is significantly reduced. This insures a smooth and predictable power delivery that is synonymous with Beta.

EFI on all 2016 RR and RS 4 strokes

Many other new features have also been added to the 4 stroke engines, with the aim of further improving power delivery and exploiting the engine's full power.

The new intake ports on the 430 and 480 models have optimized flow for improved torque and power.

The exhaust cam of the 480 has a new profile that provides a more linear power delivery.

The rev limiter of the 350 has been brought up to 13,000 rpm (as opposed to the previous 12,500 rpm) for greater performance and provide more over-rev.

The piston of the 350 and 390 models have new DLC-treated oil rings to reduce friction and oil consumption.

The oil pressure valve has a new spring that offers greater stability at high temperatures, reducing the pressure variations in the system.

The shift detent lever has a new aluminum roller that reduces the friction during gear changes and reduces wear on the gear starwheel which improves shifting action.

The new tri-phase 18 pole electric ignition supplies power of 200 watts ensuring quicker battery charging. New diodes also reduce voltage losses further improving the charging system.

New thermostat housing with four screws to improve durability.

Many of the engine's screws are now in 7075 aluminum rather than steel for a greater weight savings.

Many other new features have been introduced to further enhance handling as well as ease of maintenance.

The skid plate is now made of plastic similar to the 2 stroke models. Made from the latest-generation polyamide that combines great impact resistance with extreme lightness, as well as offering greater protection against mud that can get in between the engine and the plate.

The frame derives directly from the 2015 Racing model, the two main connection tubes to the steering head increased and created with a rectangular section in a special 41xx steel. This improved frame is a direct result of comprehensive analysis and research and has allowed for the rigidity of the various axes to be optimized for greater stability and riding precision.

The new handlebar is lower providing improved weight transfer on corner entry and thus offering maximum control.

The odometer instrumentation has been updated and integrates lights indicating low fuel level and electronic fuel injection system diagnostics.
The fuel tank is now translucent (from the 2015 Race Editions) allowing for a clear view of the fuel level in any situation.

Grips with the Beta logo embossed in.

The graphics retain the classic and distinctive Beta colors characterizing the Italian heritage. Even more stunning are the front fork tubes now with gold anodizing to match the rear shock reservoir.

4 stroke RR models will be available at dealerships in October

Suggested RR 4 stroke prices are:

350 RR     $9399.00
390 RR     $9399.00
430 RR     $9399.00
480 RR     $9499.00

RS Dual Sport
Like the RR models, the RS Dual Sport range also benefits from the introduction of the electronic fuel injection system.

Many other new features have also been added to the 4 stroke engines, with the aim of further improving power delivery and exploiting the engine's full power.

The new intake ports on the 430 and 500 models have optimized flow for improved torque and power.

The exhaust cam of the 500 has a new profile that provides a more linear power delivery.

Larger battery is fitted to improve starting while engine is hot.

New thermostat housing with four screws to improve durability.

Many of the engine's screws are now in 7075 aluminum rather than steel for a greater weight savings.

New cylinder head ports improve power delivery

Many other new features have been introduced to further enhance handling as well as ease of maintenance.

Closely linked to their continued sporting successes, Husqvarna’s new 2016 enduro model range sees notable improvements and refinements. Engine, chassis and suspension upgrades focused on improving offroad performance ensure the highest grade of Enduro development available.

Sharp and modern bodywork with a Swedish design approach, high-tech chassis and engines, rear link suspension, premium components together with
long service intervals and high reliability, plus the largest capacity fuel tank on the market, guarantee Husqvarna Motorcycles have not rested in the development of their MY16 enduro range.

From the light and super-agile 2-stroke TE 125 through to the breath taking performance of the 4-stroke FE 501, Husqvarna Motorcycles’ premium enduro bikes once again feature seven models to cater for the needs of both competitive racers and weekend trail warriors. With easy rideability to support the rider in every situation there is no better choice when pioneering new terrain.

Together with Husqvarna’s offroad race teams, experienced designers and engineers have worked tirelessly to deliver important updates for the coming year. Extensive input into the 2016 models has come from Husqvarna’s top-level racers – Enduro 2 World Champion Pela Renet, Extreme Enduro star Graham Jarvis and AMA National Enduro Champion Andrew DeLong. Knowledge gained from competition lies at the heart of Husqvarna’s 2016 model improvements.

Chassis, suspension and engine enhancements deliver a lighter, more comfortable and competitive ride. Upgraded suspension geometry and revised settings, combined with a standard handlebar map switch improve handling, confidence and control.

On all 2016 enduro bikes a new lighter 22 mm front axle with optimised axle clamp dimensions replace the previous 26 mm axle to offer improved stability and better front-end feel. Shorter axle clamp offset also helps improve fork function.

High quality, anodised black CNC machined triple clamps on all bikes now feature a 22 mm offset. Designed to evenly distribute the clamping force on the fork leg, when combined with the new front axle and axle clamp geometry it ensures improved agility and stability. The triple clamps also allow for four handlebar positions to suit the needs of a wide variety of riders.

Complementing the front axle and triple clamp updates, the 4CS fork – now in its fourth year of production – has been further developed to improve damping, handling, plushness and rider comfort. Easy access clicker dials provide quick adjustments on the go. The high performance DCC (Dual Compression Control) rear link suspension made by WP has a revised setup perfectly matching the geometry and setup changes on the front-end, allowing the rider to command the trail with confidence.

An updated lightweight six-speed gearbox with enduro specific gearing has been fitted to all enduro models to ensure easy and precise shifting. Combined with the DDS clutch system and the premium Brembo hydraulic system means the MY16 enduro range delivers smoother shifting and consistent clutch action. For 2016 the FE 450 and FE 501 clutch basket is now 80 grams lighter.

Modifications to the lubrication system on the FE 250 and FE 350 improve lubrication in extreme conditions while also helping to prevent damage against excessive oil fill-up.

Further developments for 2016 see new fork protectors, a standard ignition map switch, GFK disc brakes front and rear, lighter spokes with a weight saving of 100g, a sporty looking blue anodised Supersprox 2K rear sprocket, new seat cover and finally new colours and graphics that reflect Husqvarna’s traditional colours.

Honda is delighted to announce the return of one of motorcycling's most celebrated and evocative names—the Africa Twin. Having clearly shown the direction of its development and intent with the reveal of the True Adventure prototype at EICMA in November 2014, American Honda can now confirm that the all-new CRF1000L Africa Twin will be in U.S. dealers early next year.

Some motorcycles encapsulate perfectly what an adventure motorcycle is all about. The original XRV650 Africa Twin—which debuted in 1989 after Honda's four successive wins in the Dakar Rally—was one such machine. Its go-anywhere ability, rugged durability, agile handling and all-day comfort made it the perfect partner with which to explore. And it helped to define a motorcycling segment that has now grown into one of the most popular worldwide. The new Africa Twin remains true to all the attributes and abilities of the XRV650 and its successor, the XRV750, while adding the benefits of everything Honda has learned on and off-road over the last decade, including Team HRC's return to the Dakar in 2013.

Furthermore, in a first for the category, the Africa Twin will feature the option of a new evolution of Honda's Automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) technology, which remains unique to Honda in motorcycling. This latest evolution of DCT has been specifically developed and programmed to provide the off-road ability with which the Africa Twin is synonymous.

The all-new CRF1000L Africa Twin is set to redefine expectations of just what a large-capacity adventure motorcycle can and should be capable of, both on and off-road, and it opens an entirely new chapter in Honda's illustrious history of dual-purpose motorcycles made for true adventure.
