Steps To Success
Step 1
Load bike in bed of truck or on a trailer for inspection (if you don't have access you can ride the bike) and have it inspected without an appointment or number. Tip-drive around building to locate a sign that reads "VIN Check" and get in line.
What Bike Needs
- VIN number on frame
- US Federal Certification Label Status Sticker "Image 1"
- US Emission Label That Indicates Meets California Standards "Image 2"
Park bike or take it home where its safe. Once bike passes inspection it is no longer needed.
Step 3
Take the following paperwork with you to your local DMV.
Paperwork You Need
- Old dirt bike registration
- Proof Of Ownership: "Title" or Registration worked for me.
- Application For Title LINK HERE
- Inspection Form LINK HERE "DMV will fill this out"
Step 4
Mount your plate and have fun.
Side Note - During the inspection of my bike they didn't look at anything else as far as turn signals, muffler, or EPA canisters. The most important aspect to them seemed to be that the bike had the proper stickers and VIN.
